Russia Blasts US Failure to Combat Terrorism in Syria
by Stephen Lendman
Washington created and actively supports virtually all Middle East terrorists groups, others elsewhere – its so-called global war on terrorism perhaps the greatest hoax in modern times.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov responded sharply to deputy State Department spokesman Mark Toner’s call for tankers to halt fuel shipments to Russia for aerial operations in Syria combating terrorism – in contrast to America supporting the scourge it claims to oppose.
Toner’s call “confirm(s) our earlier estimates that fighting terrorism in Syria has never been on the outgoing administration’s agenda,” Konashenkov stressed.
Washington openly urges other countries to undermine Moscow’s heroic efforts, at the same time “downplay(ing)” its policy failures, its regime change plans, its wanting war, not peace, taking no responsibility for raping and destroying a sovereign independent country.
If America cannot or does not want to fight ISIS and other terrorist groups, step aside, “do not get in (Russia’s) way…Our air group in Syria is sufficiently equipped to fight international terrorism in this region,” Konashenkov stressed.
Will Trump’s ascension to power change US geopolitics – in Syria, other US war theaters, and bilateral Russia/US relations? Or will his campaign promises prove empty like Obama’s, Bush/Cheney’s and the Clinton co-presidency?
It’s unknown until he succeeds Obama and begins governing. It’s his choice between historic change or deplorable continuity.
A lot rides on what he decides, and how strong-willed he is to stay resolute on anything positive.
