The Message of Trumpcare
by Stephen Lendman
It’s House passage is the latest example, following many others, showing America is a plutocracy, not a democracy, serving its privileged class exclusively at the expense of its ordinary citizens and residents.
Duopoly governance rules. Two right wings comprise it. Elections are farcical when held. Ordinary people have no say whatever.
Monied interests control everything – dark forces comprising America’s deep state. Presidents, Congress and the courts serve them.
Predatory capitalism is the beating heart of the nation’s deplorable politico/economic system – enforced by militarized police state harshness.
The notion of democratic governance serving all Americans equitably is pure fantasy – never in US history, worst of all now. Privilege alone matters – from the nation’s beginning to currently under Trump and the Republican-dominated Congress.
Michael Parenti explained America’s founders wanted “a rising bourgeoisie” alone served, free to “invest, speculate, trade, and accumulate wealth” – how monied interests operate today, hardly the way democracy is supposed to work.
Privilege, power, and profit-making define what America stands for – at the expense of ordinary people, their rights and needs ignored, social justice considered anathema.
Predatory capitalism doesn’t breed democracy and prosperity, except for its privileged few alone. An enormous disparity exists between haves and have-nots, Republicans and Democrats unwilling to govern equitably for all Americans.
Government sides with corporate and monied interests, enacting laws serving their bottom line, providing generous subsidies and other handouts.
It doesn’t matter who’s president, who holds top congressional positions, who serves on the nation’s courts. The same dirty system prevails – at times better than others like from New Deal, Fair Deal and Great Society programs, most other times indifferent to public rights and needs, worst of all now.
America is a predatory corporate state, government taxing the many to subsidize the privileged few – socialism for the rich, law of the jungle, free-market capitalism for everyone else.
It’s the American way from inception. Corporate giants and large investors get enormous benefits ordinary people pay for.
They include tax breaks, loan guarantees, bailouts, export subsidies, R & D grants, free use of the public broadcasting spectrum, free public land, and more – socializing costs, privatizing profits, redistributing wealth from ordinary people to privileged ones.
America’s military, industrial, media complex operates recklessly and ruthlessly, profiting from mass slaughter, destruction, chaos and human misery.
Endless global blood-letting gets bipartisan support, humanity paying the price, media scoundrels in lockstep with policies benefitting wealth, power and privilege exclusively.
Washington rules override rule of law principles. Presidents, Congress and the courts serve as guardians of a predatory system.
Trumpcare shows how America works – for its privileged few alone, the way it’s always been from inception, more now than ever.
