Lavrov Slams US Regime Change Agenda in Syria

With US-supported terrorists down though not yet defeated, he called Washington’s aim “plan B.”

He knows better. It’s always been plan A, wanting pro-Western puppet rule replacing Syrian sovereign independence.

Lavrov: “A combination of factors makes us think, that the aim of those who want to pass (a new Security Council) resolution (on the situation in Eastern Ghouta and humanitarian pause, excluding) our essential amendments, is not to help the civilians, but to shift the focus in the Syrian issue from the need to urgently launch the Geneva talks basing on success of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Syria, to demonize the Syrian government in order to advance the so-called Plan B to overthrow (President Bashar Assad) in violation of UN Security Council resolution 2254.”

“If our arguments are ignored once again, we have no other choice but to be reinforced in the view that the aim of the authors of this initiative is to once again shift the attention to Damascus, cover(ing) (for) terrorist groups.”

Commenting on dire humanitarian conditions in Eastern Ghouta, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia is actively involved in trying to improve things.

Al-Nusra and other US-supported terrorists are holding countless thousands of Syrian civilians hostage in the area, shelling their neighborhoods, attacking hospitals – Russia and Syria falsely blamed for their high crimes.

Security Council members are meeting today on this issue. Russia rejects Washington’s proposed Eastern Ghouta ceasefire, intended to protect al-Nusra and other terrorists in the area, Lavrov saying:

Ceasefire “must not at all” stop efforts to combat ISIS, al-Nusra, and elements cooperating with them – “systematically firing on residential areas of Damascus.”

Washington got Sweden and Kuwait to propose a 30-day ceasefire on the phony pretext of delivering humanitarian aid and medical evacuations US-supported terrorists block.

US and rogue allies refuse “to go for a clear withdrawal of terrorists from” a ceasefire agreement,” Lavrov explained, adding:

“(A) few days ago, our military, operating in Syria at the Reconciliation Center, offered militants to leave Eastern Ghouta peacefully, just like the militants who were evacuated with their families from Eastern Aleppo. Jabhat al-Nusra and those who interact with them, flatly refused this offer.”

The alternative is eliminating them altogether militarily. Syria, Russia and allied forces are mobilizing to do it.
