Sergey Lavrov Straight Talk on Hostile US-Led Western Policies

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Throughout the post-WW II period, both wings of the US one-party state sought and continue to seek transformation of all independent nations into vassal states.

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the US and its imperial partners of hostile actions against Moscow.

They’ve “redoubled their efforts to contain Russia’s development,” he said, adding:

“They are trying to punish us for an independent foreign policy, for consistently upholding our national interests.”

“So we have no other choice but to conclude we cannot count on a mutually respectful consideration of the emerging problems, because the West has made it a rule to talk with Russia based on the presumption of its guilt” — no evidence cited proving accusations made because there is none.

What’s cited is couched in dubious “highly likely” claims with no legitimacy.

Countless examples exist, including “Berlin’s arrogant refusal” to respond to numerous requests from Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office on the Navalny novichok poisoning hoax, Lavrov stressing:

This action flagrantly violates “Germany’s obligations under the 1959 European Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters,” adding:

“Instead of respecting this international legal document, representatives of Germany and France initiated another batch of illegitimate EU sanctions against Russian citizens.”

“All this deplorably and clearly illustrates the inability of the European Union to adequately assess what is happening in the world, and its tendency to put itself beyond the law.”

“We never avoid responding proportionately to anti-Russia attacks by…Western (nations that) seem to have forgotten what diplomacy is and have sunk to the level of vulgar rudeness.”

“Our retaliatory steps in the US and EU are well known.”

Russian foreign policy is clear and unequivocal. It seeks peace, stability, and cooperative relations with other nations — confrontation with none.

It’s polar opposite how the US-dominated West operates, waging war on humanity, Germany allied with Washington’s imperial agenda in pursuit of its own interests.

Most nations working cooperatively with Russia are in Eurasia, Africa, and Latin America, Lavrov explained.

Hostile US-led Western actions against Moscow won’t go unanswered, he added:

“We never avoid responding proportionately to the anti-Russia attacks by our Western colleagues who seem to have forgotten what diplomacy is and have sunk to the level of vulgar rudeness.”

“Our retaliatory steps in the US and EU are well known.”

Both right wings of the US one-party state consider Russia, China, Iran, and other independent nations mortal enemies of the imperial state.

Diplomatic outreach by these and other nations free from US control consistently fails.

Its promises are made to be broken. Treaties it agreed to are breached time and again.

Overwhelming evidence long ago proved that Washington can never be trusted. The same goes for its imperial partners.

As long as Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and other nations are free fro US control, they’re prime targets for regime change.

Expressing hope that doesn’t exist for improved Russian relations with EU countries, Lavrov said “sanctions (on Moscow by) Brussels and a number of Russophobic EU countries at the direct orders from Washington remain a serious obstacle for further strengthening” ties with European countries.

It’s futile for Lavrov to hope that EU nations will have “wisdom, vision and…common sense, so that our dialogue with the European Union and its member states is fully restored based on the principles of neighborly relations, good faith, predictability and openness.”

No evidence backs this view. Washington’s new world order transformed European countries into virtual US colonies.

Its political, economic, and military leverage over the continent greatly increased after Soviet Russia’s December 1991 dissolution, gaining control over most Eastern European countries.

In 1776, US colonies broke from Britain by declaring their sovereign independence, a new nation created free from foreign control.

Will European countries one day break free from submissiveness to Washington and declare their own independence?

Or will they remain client states, sacrificing what no nations should relinquish to others?

At this moment in time, US-dominated European countries are hostile toward Russia for not sacrificing its sovereign interests to a higher power in Washington.

Improved Russian relations with Western and most Eastern European states likely depends on when imperial USA joins earlier failed empires in history’s dustbin.
