Fake News of Foreign Meddling in US Elections

Fake News Threat of Foreign Meddling in US Elections

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

Days ahead of US federal, state and local elections, phony claims of foreign meddling keep surfacing.

No evidence exists beyond unsubstantiated claims.

No evidence ever showed meddling by Russia, China, Iran or other nations in the US political process — what dark forces in Washington have done scores of times post-WW II alone, at home and abroad.

Days earlier, the NYT accused Russia and Iran of “seek(ing) to influence” US election results.

As always before on virtually all issues related to these countries, no evidence was cited.

There is none and besides — what could any foreign nation gain by US election interference when results always turn out the same way.

Dirty business as usual always wins, how the process works under one-party rule with two right wings.

Last month, the Times falsely accused Russia of interfering in the upcoming US presidential election “to help Trump.”

Pompeo and other regime hardliners have been tougher on Russia than at least most of their predecessors.

Why would Moscow support a regime that assures more of the same in a second term?

Geopolitical know-nothing Trump is hostage to dark forces controlling his foreign policy, manipulating him to be tough on all nations free from US control — notably Russia, China, and Iran.

Last July, Reuters warned “voters (to) be on high alert for foreign interference in the Nov. 3 US election.”

Ignored by the wire service was that it never happened before — despite warnings — so why expect it in Nov.

Rest assured. There’s not a snowball’s chance in hell of it happening in the run-up to, during, or in the aftermath of the November 3 process.

Washington Post fake news warned about nonexistent Iranian “threatening emails” to Dem voters, Tehran posing as a far-right US group — saying “vote for Trump on election day or we will come after you.”

When repeated enough times, most people believe almost anything, no matter how implausible.

A week ahead of November elections, WaPo was at it again.

Saying “(w)e have to guard against foreign election meddling” turned reality on its head again.

Yet WaPo claimed that Russia, China, and Iran are “assailing our democracy.”

Why would any foreign government “assail” what doesn’t exist?

According to WaPo, there’s “good news…(O)ur government is paying attention.”

Bad guys “are getting caught before they can gain much ground.”

Ignored by WaPo is that bad guys are us, a nation notorious for repeated episodes of electoral dirty tricks worldwide — at home and abroad.

Examples abound. The “corrupt bargain following the 1824 presidential election put John Quincy Adams in the White House over Andrew Jackson and others.

While dealmakers prevailed over voters, Jackson was elected and reelected president in 1828 and 1832.

Digital age technology enables electoral fraud with electronic ease.

Despite losing to Al Gore in 2000 and John Kerry in 2004, GW Bush served two terms as president — majority Supreme Court justices and electronic ease elevating him to power.

From inception, democracy in America has always been and continues to be pure fantasy.

Secrecy and back room deals substitute for a free, fair and open process.

Party bosses choose candidates. Big money owns them. Ordinary Americans have no say over how they’re governed.

Voters get the best democracy money can buy — what realpolitik’s dark side is all about.

Election 2016 surprised. Establishment/media favorite Hillary, of course, lost to political outsider, billionaire real estate businessman Trump.

Will it happen again next Tuesday? Based on the latest October polls reported by Real Clear Politics, Biden leads Trump by 7.6 points.

One of the three latest polls — conducted from October 22 – 26 — gives the challenger a slim 2 point advantage.

As in most US presidential elections, swing states will likely decide this one.

Key ones in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and elsewhere could go either way.

On October 26, USA Today reported that Trump is gaining in “9 of 12 swing states,” closing the gap between him and Biden, adding:

National and “swing state surveys make it clear the race is tightening.”

It may be decided on which wing of the one-party state is most successful in getting out the vote.

The only poll that counts is on election day. Because of record numbers of mail-in ballots, results may not be known for days after November 3.

Polls got it wrong in 2016. Is a repeat likely this year?

If electoral fraud is in play, whichever candidate US dark forces favor will triumph on November 3.

Is post-election turmoil likely? It’s clearly possible no matter who wins.

Supporters of the losing candidate could take to the streets, especially if he cries foul.

Trump earlier said: “Universal mail-in voting is going to be catastrophic.”

“It’s going to make our country the laughing stock of the world.”

“The problem with the mail-in voting, number one, is you’re never going to know when the election is over.”

If days post-election are needed to count mail-in ballots to determine the outcome, will this issue become the so-called “hanging chads” of this year’s election?

It won’t be long before electoral postmortems are known.

If results are close in key states that decide the outcome, trouble in the streets could follow — no matter who wins.

Whether it’s Trump or Biden, dirty business as usual is certain like always before.
