Trump’s Sham Senate Trial: Acquittal Certain?

Trump’s Sham Senate Trial: Acquittal Certain?

by Stephen Lendman ( – Home – Stephen Lendman)

With acquittal a virtual certainty, sham proceedings continue anyway against Trump — Dems mocking the rule of law, disgracing themselves more than already at the same time.

With a two-thirds Senate super-majority needed to convict, 44 Senate Republicans voted against continuation of sham proceedings on constitutional grounds — on day one of Trump’s politicized trial.

Things were virtually over before beginning. Yet they’ll likely continue for several days before ending with a whimper, not a bang.

Six Republicans broke ranks to their shame — supporting politicized proceedings with no legitimacy instead of opposing continuation of trying Trump on the phony charge of inciting insurrection.

No credible evidence supports it.

Tuesday’s 56 – 44 vote to continue proceedings is well short of a super-majority needed to convict.

Trump is the first US president to be impeached and tried twice — both times on politicized charges, not legitimate ones.

He’s the first former US president to face Senate trial.

A former public official can’t be removed from an office no longer held.

In Trump’s case, he was impeached on the phony charge of inciting insurrection days before his term of office ended.

He’s falsely charged with what he had nothing to do with and didn’t happened.

On January 6, no inciting of insurrection on Capitol Hill occurred.

Orchestrated by anti-Trump dark forces, what happened was America’s Reichstag fire — a false flag to illegitimately legitimize Biden’s usurpation of power by brazen election fraud.

As long as he’s in office, selected, not elected status will more greatly stain his already blacked public record.

Honest historians won’t treat him kindly. Trump won, perhaps by a landslide margin.

Biden lost. He’s illegitimately in office.

Private citizen Trump is on trial for politicized reasons, a media backed show trial — what a law-abiding tribunal would dismiss straightaway, case closed.

Instead, proceedings will likely continue to a foregone conclusion — anti-Trump media misreporting on them to continue vilifying him for the wrong reasons, ignoring justifiable ones because the vast majority of congressional members share guilt.

Events since early last year — including two sham Trump impeachments and trials — reflect the darkest chapter in US history, accelerating its imperial decline and path toward history’s dustbin.

Commenting on anti-Trump proceedings so far, Law Professor Jonathan Turley said the following:

“(T)he constitutionality of retroactive trials remains a highly contested proposition.”

They’re justifiable based on credible evidence of one or more impeachable offenses.

A year ago and now, Dems invented phony charges against Trump, not legitimate ones.

Thus, impeachment and trials earlier and ongoing have no legal legitimacy.

Then and now Trump was charged for what he had nothing to do with.

Proceedings a year ago and ongoing were and are politicized — what no legitimate tribunal would permit.

I’m all for charging and trying Trump for crimes of war and against humanity, for betraying the public trust by serving privileged interests exclusively at the expense of ordinary people at home and abroad he greatly harmed.

That’s not what happened last year or now.

Politicized proceedings against Trump on invented charges with no legitimacy mock what judicial fairness is supposed to be all about.

While Trump will be twice acquitted, an indelible stain will remain on undemocratic Dems for brazen election theft and sham proceedings against him so he’ll be permanently damaged goods and unable to seek public office again.

Legal scholars disagree on whether impeaching and trying a former US president or other official no longer in office is constitutional.

No argument supports prosecution of anyone based on phony charges.

That’s what happened a year ago against Trump and is going on now — shaming the nation and elements behind what’s ongoing.

They should be on trial for phony impeachment charges, not Trump for what he’s falsely accused of.
