Russian Foreign Ministry on Western Sanctions, Ukraine, US Aggression, and Other Issues
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
Sanctions are weapons of war by other means.
Used by the US and its European colonies against invented enemies flagrantly breaches the letter and spirit of the UN Charter.
Nonbelligerent Russia threatening no one is a favorite target.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (MZ below), they’re “destructive elements,” adding:
The US, UK and EU illegally impose sanctions on Russia in flagrant breach of international law their ruling regimes long ago abandoned.
“This policy leads to destructive trends and chaos in international affairs.”
“It is fraught with increased confrontation and degradation of relations between the involved countries.”
“It is unacceptable and illegal” — yet used repeatedly against Russia and other invented enemies by the US-dominated West.
Their ruling regimes created “a crisis…in human rights” — internally and in hostile dealings with other nations.
Unacceptable “steps by the (West) against Russia will not be left without a proportionate response.”
US-installed pro-Western puppet rule in Ukraine imposed illegal/meaningless sanctions on “26 Russian citizens, 81 Russian companies and a number of Russian media outlets,” MZ explained, adding:
The above came on top of previous police state actions.
“(O)ver 400 internet resources and seven television channels were shut down.”
What’s going on continues its war on fundamental freedoms.
It includes wanting speech, media, and academic freedoms eliminated — anti-official narrative information prohibited.
MZ estimates that Kiev’s fascist Poroshenko and Zelensky regimes “imposed unlawful sanctions on about 2,300 individuals and over 1,000 companies from Russia.”
“Kiev considers institutions like Moscow State University, the Hermitage State Museum, and the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum, to name a few, objectionable.”
Police state laws were enacted to push its hostile agenda against the rule of law and all things Russian — in cahoots with its US imperial master.
The UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, UNESCO, and other Western agencies turn a blind eye to flagrant abuses by Kiev extremists — including against Ukrainian supporters of democratic freedoms over fascist rule.
At the same time, the US, UK and EU maintain the myth of “Russian aggression” — how their ruling regimes operate, not Moscow.
In response to US-dominated NATO’s hostility toward Russia, MZ said Kremlin “foreign policy and military planning” will be pursued with this in mind.
NATO secretary general Stoltenberg is a pathetic figurehead stooge for US imperial policies.
He consistently makes false accusations against Russia and other invented enemies — using US supplied talking points.
Separately, MZ commented on Britain’s “aggressive…military buildup” — with nonbelligerent Russia in mind.
Boris Johnson regime war secretary Ben Wallace falsely accused Moscow of “subversive activities (sic).”
Defying reality, he falsely blamed Russia for the landmark INF Treaty’s collapse — ignoring its abandonment by Trump regime hardliners.
Colonized Britain follows orders from its US imperial master that includes partnering in its wars by hot and/or other means against invented enemies.
Sharply criticizing imperial USA, MZ said the following:
“(W)hat really threaten(s) the world in the historical context, and not in a remote period but in a quite recent one (is) US” belligerence and its other hostile actions.
Its ruling authorities believe they’re “destined to play a special role in the world, a kind of American messianism.”
“A belief that the US has the right to interfere in any affairs around the world is accepted as justification for its attempts to influence developments in other countries.”
“They believe that they have a right to dictate their will to others, to lecture them and even to force American views regarding the development path that other countries, peoples, civil societies and the world as a whole must follow.”
They consistently and repeatedly breach the rule of law, including their own constitutional law — with impunity.
In stark contrast, nonbelligerent Russia “do(es) not engage in regime changes, do not interfere in the internal affairs of other states and do not orchestrate protests in other countries.”
“We call for respect of and compliance with the fundamental provisions of the UN Charter.”
The US “regularly violates the national sovereignty of other states and interferes in their internal affairs.”
“The favorite method of the US intelligence agencies is interference in elections and coups staged to replaced undesirable governments.”
An earlier Carnegie Mellon University study based on declassified US intelligence by researcher Dov Levin found the following:
Throughout the post-WW II period to 2000, US regimes unlawfully interfered over 80 times in foreign elections — to illegally influence their outcome in 45 countries.
Lots more of the same occurred during the past two decades, along with US-staged color revolutions, old-fashioned coups, political assassinations, endless wars by hot and other means, along with numerous other dirty tricks.
Pentagon forces occupy three-fourths of world community nations.
CIA operatives infest them all, working under cover in US embassies and consulates.
Much more tough talk like MZ’s above is needed by senior Russian officials — especially by Vladimir Putin.
It’s high time he took off the gloves and gave US hardliners a taste of their own medicine — short of engaging in hot war.
