The Horror! The Horror!
by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)
The above is borrowed from Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.
In it, he discussed “the conquest of the earth, which mostly means the taking it away from those who have a different complexion, a slightly flatter noses than ourselves, is not a pretty thing when you look into it too much.”
“(O)ne comes to hate those savages…hate them to the death,” he said.
“Exterminate all the brutes!”
In Occupied Palestine, the final solution is playing out in slow motion.
The scourge of imperialism isn’t pretty — how the US, West, and Israel operate, smashing other nations and people they want subjugated and exploited.
The horror indeed.
It’s been endless for 73 years with no prospect for positive change because the US, West, and their conspiratorial regional and other partners are locked into one-sidedly supporting Israeli apartheid oppression of Palestinians.
In flagrant breach of core international law, what’s going on daily throughout the Territories and against Israeli/Arab citizens is ignored like always before.
Israel is perpetually at war on millions of Palestinians.
Most often low-level below the radar, at times it explodes like what’s gone on against two million Gazans since May 10.
And when terror-bombing and shelling end, which they will, illegal blockade of the Strip will continue — along with enormous pain and suffering it causes in breach of international law.
Palestinians throughout the Occupied Territories will continue being brutalized and otherwise oppressed daily —their rights denied, their humanity demeaned, their dignity ignored by Israel and the world community.
For all their pain and suffering, peace, equity and justice is denied them by a brutal occupier — wanting them dispossessed or otherwise eliminated from their historic land to make way for exclusive Jewish development and use.
When what’s erroneously called calm returns, the horror of occupation harshness will remain unchanged because the West and world community overall don’t give a damn about Palestinian rights and never did.
According to late Wednesday reports from Gaza, Israeli terror-bombing and shelling continue.
The reported death and injury toll undercounts the full horror as bodies of the dead and wounded continue to be pulled from rubble or otherwise discovered.
According to writer Maureen Clare Murphy, Israeli aggression against Gaza displaced 75,000 from their homes.
On Wednesday, OCHO reported that “(a)t least 14 families in Gaza have lost three or more family members in the same incident, for a total of 66 fatalities.”
Defense for Children – Palestine tweeted:
“On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike hit Al-Shati refugee camp in #Gaza, killing 7 children and their mothers. DCIP has confirmed that Yahya Mohammad Sobhi Al-Hadidi, 10, who was missing at the time of the attack, was also killed.”
“Israeli forces killed 10 people in one attack.”
Massacring civilians is deliberate in all Israeli wars and daily persecution of Palestinians throughout the Territories.
On Thursday, Mondoweiss reported that Britain’s Boris Johnson regime is “crack(ing) down on BDS” when its activism everywhere is most needed.
Mondoweiss also reported on the dire state of Gaza’s healthcare sector.
Always struggling under blockade for equipment, meds and other supplies to treat patients, Israeli terror-bombing and shelling of medical facilities made a dire situation much worse.
Israel and its enabling nations bear full responsibility for the horror endured by Gazans and all Palestinians throughout the Territories.
The only solution is Intifada revolution — staying the course whatever the cost because the alternative is much worse.
If millions of Palestinians rise up against their oppressor, there’s hope for something positive eventually that’s not attainable another way.
Notably not through diplomacy with duplicitous Israel and the likeminded West — a futile waste of time whenever undertaken, including the peace process hoax.
Nor is positive change possible without real/democratically elected pro-Palestinian leadership, replacing the deeply corrupted/puppet PA under Abbas or whoever Israel chooses to succeed him.
Great struggles aren’t won short-term.
“Quietly endure, silently suffer and patiently wait,” said Martin Luther King.
Hugo Chavez once said “(i)f we don’t make that better world possible, if we fail…and (US imperialism) is imposed upon the world, (it’ll) be destroyed.”
The same goes for overall Western tyranny and apartheid Israel in the Middle East.
In 2006 by open letter to Chavez, I said your spirit and glorious revolution inspire me.
Keep it flourishing, growing and spreading, I urged.
In 2013, Obama killed Chavez.
He’s gone. The struggle to preserve and protect Bolivarian social democracy continues.
