Palestinian Political Prisoner Khalida Jarrar Freed – Again

Since 1989, activist politician Khalida Jarrar was arrested and unlawfully imprisoned for the crime of wanting Palestinians liberated to live on their own land, in their own country, free from occupation tyranny.

At any time, thousands of Palestinians are imprisoned for political reasons, hundreds held indefinitely uncharged and untried.

Due process and judicial fairness are denied virtually all Palestinians languishing in Israeli gulag hell — ignored by the world community out of sight and mind, victims of Jewish state apartheid viciousness.

Most recently, Jarrar was extrajudicially arrested on October 31, 2019 — eight months after release from administrative detention on the phony pretext of belonging to an activist organization Israel reinvented as a terrorist group.

She’s a senior member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) official.

She’s also a member of a Palestinian committee that presented evidence to the International Criminal Court of Israeli crimes of war and against humanity.

All of the above, along with championing of Palestinian rights, is why she’s been singled out for harsh mistreatment, invented reasons used because no legitimate ones ever existed.

Targeting her is all about silencing her, along with wanting Palestinians denied redoubtable leadership she’s able to provide.

Currently, 11 other Palestinian parliamentarians are imprisoned for invented reasons.

Like Jarrah, they’re falsely called security threats, Israeli code language for Palestinian champions of human and civil rights, according to the rule of law.

Like virtually always when political arrests are made, their residences are violently stormed pre-dawn, how Jarrar was forcibly seized from family members and abducted time and again.

Enhanced interrogation usually follows, a euphemism for torture and/or other forms of mistreatment.

During her most recent imprisonment, she was transferred from one location to another before spending most of her internment at Hasharon prison.

Arbitrary arrest and detention uncharged or for invented accusations flagrantly breaches Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, stating the following:

1. “Everyone has the right to liberty and security of person. No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention.”

“No one shall be deprived of his liberty except on such grounds and in accordance with such procedures as are established by law.”

2. “Anyone who is arrested shall be informed, at the time of arrest, of the reasons for his arrest and shall be promptly informed of any charges against him.”

4. “Anyone who is deprived of his liberty by arrest or detention shall be entitled to take proceedings before a court, in order that that court may decide without delay on the lawfulness of his detention and order his release if the detention is not lawful.”

According to Fourth Geneva’s Article 78:

“If the Occupying Power considers it necessary, for imperative reasons of security, to take measures concerning protected persons, it may, at the most, subject them to assigned residence or to internment.”

“Decisions regarding such assigned residence or internment shall be made according to a regular procedure to be prescribed by the Occupying Power in accordance with the provisions of the present Convention.”

“This procedure shall include the right of appeal (decided on) with the least possible delay.”

If upheld, “it shall be subject to periodical review…”

Extrajudicial detention never substitutes for criminal proceedings according to international law — what Israel long ago abandoned.

Its militarized control over millions of Palestinians is arbitrary and repressive – systematically violating rights international law affords everyone.

Commenting on Jarrar’s release, the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network said the following:

The human rights group “salutes Khalida Jarrar, her family and loved ones, her comrades, and the Palestinian people on the occasion of her release from two years of unjust imprisonment in Israeli occupation jails.”

“The moment of her release is one of joy for everyone around the world who supports the just cause of the Palestinian people and the international movement for liberation and justice.”

“Today, her steadfastness, strength and leadership must give us occasion not only to celebrate her return home but to redouble our efforts for Palestinian liberation and return.”

Her release is tempered with grief and rage over Israel’s cold-blooded killing of five Palestinians on Sunday, six others wounded, during raids in villages near Jenin and Jerusalem.

A family member of one of the murdered Palestinians accused longtime Israeli collaborator, PA president Abbas, of aiding the Bennett regime locate the individuals targeted.

Pre-dawn Israeli raids are carried out virtually daily against Palestinians for the crime of being Muslim in occupied territory Jewish state regimes want exclusively for Jews.

It’s how the scourge of apartheid ruthlessness operates, along with preemptively waging war internally and abroad against invented enemies.
